Terms of Use
Last updated: 5 October 2026
These terms explain how TaskNaija works and what we expect from you. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use TaskNaija.
Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information.
1. About TaskNaija
TaskNaija is an online marketplace where people who need work done (“customers”) meet people who offer their skills (“workers”). We provide the platform, the messaging, the payment-holding process and dispute help. We are not the employer of any worker, and we do not do the work ourselves.
The contract for a job is between the customer and the worker. TaskNaija is not a party to it, except for the payment-holding and dispute steps described below.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- Give true information and keep it up to date. One person should have one account.
- Keep your password and any two-step codes private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- You can be a customer, a worker, or both.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
3. Posting jobs and working
- Customers must describe a job honestly: what is needed, where, the budget and any deadline.
- Workers must describe their skills and experience honestly and only apply for work they can do.
- Agree the details of a job, including the price, in the job or in messages before work starts.
- Treat everyone with respect. Do not harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone.
Some people can show a “Verified” badge after we have checked their identity documents. A badge shows that a check was done. It is not a promise about the quality, safety or honesty of that person’s work.
4. Payments
TaskNaija uses bank transfer only. We do not take card payments.
- When a customer hires a worker, the customer pays the agreed amount into TaskNaija’s bank account, using the details shown on the payment page, and uploads proof of payment.
- We check that the money arrived. Until we confirm it, the job is not treated as paid.
- After we confirm it, the money is held by TaskNaija. The worker can then start with confidence that the money is there.
- When the customer confirms the work is complete, the money is released to the worker’s TaskNaija wallet, less our fee.
- A worker can ask to withdraw wallet money to their own bank account. We pay withdrawals by bank transfer, usually within one working day. We do not charge a withdrawal fee.
Always pay only to the bank details shown inside your TaskNaija account. We will never ask you to pay a worker or to send money to a personal account for a TaskNaija job. Money paid outside TaskNaija is not protected by us.
Banks may take time to process transfers, and checks can take longer if the proof of payment is unclear. We are not responsible for delays caused by banks.
5. Our fee
TaskNaija takes a service fee from each completed job. The fee is shown before you confirm a job, so you can see what the worker will receive. We may change the fee for future jobs. A change never affects a job that has already been paid for.
6. Completing a job, problems and disputes
- When the work is finished, the worker tells the customer. The customer should check the work and confirm it, or raise a problem quickly.
- If the two of you cannot agree, either of you can open a dispute from the job page. The money stays held while we look at it.
- We review the messages, the job description, any files you upload and anything else relevant. We may ask both sides for more information.
- We then decide to release the money to the worker, return it to the customer, or split it. Our decision is final for the money we hold, but it does not stop you from using other legal routes.
Please be honest and keep your discussions on TaskNaija so there is a record. Opening a dispute without a good reason, or submitting false evidence, can lead to account action.
7. Identity checks
To keep the community safer we may ask for an ID and other documents before you can take some actions, such as withdrawing money. We keep these documents private and use them only as explained in our Privacy Policy. We may refuse or remove a verification if the documents are unclear, do not match, or appear false.
8. What is not allowed
- Anything illegal in Nigeria, or jobs that ask someone to break the law or hurt another person.
- Fake accounts, fake reviews or pretending to be someone else.
- Taking payments outside TaskNaija to avoid fees, or asking others to do so.
- Scams, harassment, hate speech, or sexual content involving anyone.
- Sharing other people’s private details without permission.
- Trying to break, overload or get into parts of the site that are not meant for you.
- Posting jobs or messages that are spam, adverts or unrelated to getting work done.
9. Reviews and what you post
You keep ownership of what you post (profile text, photos, job details, portfolio work and reviews). By posting it you allow TaskNaija to store it, show it on the site and in our emails and notifications, and use it to run the service.
Only post things you have the right to share. Reviews must be about a real job you did together and must be honest. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
10. Restrictions and ending an account
If we believe these terms have been broken, or we need to protect other users, we may warn you, limit what your account can do (for example posting jobs, applying, messaging or withdrawing), or close it. Where possible we explain why.
You can stop using TaskNaija at any time. Money still held for an open job or in your wallet stays yours or the other party’s as set out above, and any open dispute continues until it is decided.
11. Our responsibility
We work hard to keep TaskNaija running and correct, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may pause the site for maintenance.
Workers are independent. We do not guarantee that any worker will do good work, that any customer will be honest, or that any job will be completed. We are not responsible for the quality, safety or legality of work done between users, or for losses that come from dealing with someone outside TaskNaija.
Nothing in these terms removes any right you have under Nigerian law that cannot be removed.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as TaskNaija grows. When we make an important change we will tell you on the site or by email. Using TaskNaija after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Courts in Nigeria can hear any dispute about them, although we encourage you to talk to us first so we can try to sort things out.
